The library contains over 16,000 books and publications mainly in English and Sinhala with a few in other languages such as Tamil, Hindi, Chinese and Japanese.
In addition the library is equipped with multimedia facilities and audio-visual materials.

The entire collection can be broadly classified thus:-

• Philosophy and Psychology A collection which also includes several volumes on astrology by Western Writers.
  
  
• Buddhism and comparative religions.
  
  
• World History and Biographies The collection consists of biographies of almost all world leaders and a large collection of writings on Mahatma Gandhi.
  
  
• State Publications namely Sessional Papers, Ordinances and Acts of Parliament, Hansards, Administration Reports and Govt. gazettes are a few to be mentioned.
  
  
• Gardening and Agriculture.
  
  
• Rare collection which includes some original first editions such as

  (b) Philippus Baldeus - Description of Ceylon (1671)
  (c) Ananda K.Coomaraswamy -Mediaeval Sinhalese Art (1908)

• Reference Books such as the Encyclopedia, various editions of Dictionaries and the Ferguson Directory are among various facilities available for reference.
